Biography

About My Art

Guiding the brush like a violin bow – this guiding principle shapes my artistic practice. With the precision and dedication I have developed over nearly three decades as a classically trained violinist, I devote myself to botanical watercolor painting. Every brushstroke carries the discipline of daily practice, the love for the smallest detail, and that mindfulness which is essential in both music and the observation of nature.

My works are meticulously accurate botanical studies in watercolor on the finest paper – from lifelike miniatures to large-format compositions in A3 and A2. I work exclusively with carefully selected and rigorously tested materials of the highest professional standards. As a self-proclaimed "pigment nerd", I document my color experiments and botanical studies in publicly accessible journals on Instagram (@daria.botanicals), which have been shared multiple times by Daniel Smith and commented on by renowned artists such as Jane Blundell.

I find my inspiration in living plants, my own photographs, and a comprehensive botanical journal where I collect drawings, color mixtures, and botanical information. The fascinating world of plants and colors, combined with a deep awareness of nature conservation, forms the heart of my artistic practice.
